0:01

Welcome to this modality course on HRCT.

0:04

I'm Jonathan Chung, professor of Radiology

0:06

and Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging at University

0:09

of California San Diego.

0:12

I'm also an associate clinical associate at the University

0:15

of Chicago, where I also do research.

0:18

It's my pleasure to be presenting here.

0:20

We're gonna be discussing some didactics on HRCT,

0:24

but also more importantly,

0:26

we're gonna go through a ton of cases.

0:27

And I think through those cases you're gonna learn quite a

0:30

bit in addition to the didactics.

0:33

So why complete this course?

0:35

So number one, obviously you're probably here

0:38

because you wanna learn more about HRCT

0:41

or maybe in your own clinical practice,

0:44

you feel like that's a weakness.

0:45

And so if that's true, welcome,

0:47

this course is definitely for you.

0:50

But for those of you guys who are kind of on the fence,

0:51

should you complete this course, the next slide will explain

0:55

to you why it's so important.

0:57

Really paramount for us as radiologists

1:00

to be really well versed on ILD assessment on HRCT.

1:06

It has something to do with pathology,

1:08

but again, uh, I'll just leave that cliffhanger there just

1:11

to kinda keep you on course here.

1:14

Overall goal of this course, I mean, I say goals,

1:17

but really it's one goal is

1:19

to get better at ILD assessment on HRCT.

1:22

It can be challenging. It's, it's one of those things where

1:25

when I talk to my friends in general practice, they say

1:28

it's common enough where it's irksome,

1:30

but it's not common enough where you get good at it.

1:32

It's one of those kind of things. So you have to read 'em,

1:36

but your mastery,

1:38

or at least your confidence,

1:39

maybe you're actually pretty good at it,

1:40

but your confidence in reading them is fairly low.

1:42

So we want to get rid of that. We want

1:43

to increase the confidence,

1:44

we wanna make sure the mastery is there.

1:46

In terms of all of the assessment, general overview of

1:50

how we're gonna approach and really get this categorized in

1:54

our minds is that we're gonna use a pattern based approach.

1:57

So we're gonna start with pulmonary fibrosis.

1:59

We're gonna have a section on nodular lung disease section

2:01

on cystic lung disease,

2:03

and then we're gonna have a section on interstitial lung

2:05

abnormality and progressive pulmonary fibrosis.

2:09

After all those sections, there will be some cases, some

2:12

of these sections will have many, many cases

2:14

and some will just have a few.

2:17

So here we go.
