Imaging Categories of ILA

0:00

There are imaging categories for ILA.

0:02

There's non subpleural, there's subpleural and non fibrotic,

0:06

and there's subpleural and fibrotic, non subpleural ILAs.

0:10

These don't really progress, so you can,

0:13

I don't wanna say blow them off,

0:14

but like you don't have to be that worried about these

0:17

patients with non subpleural ILAs,

0:19

but if you have subpleural ila, whether it's non fibrotic

0:23

or fibrotic, you know, then in both these situations,

0:26

these patients can progress.

0:27

These might be early progressive pulmonary fibrosis

0:31

or early IPF,

0:32

and so these patients need to be followed,

0:34

at the very least, with CT and pulmonary function testing.

0:37

How do you define fibrosis?

0:39

You're looking for traction, bronchiectasis

0:41

and bronchiectasis,

0:42

or subpleural honeycombing

0:44

to further stratify non fibrotic from fibrotic disease.

0:48

As you would expect, if you have clear CT manifestations

0:53

of pulmonary fibrosis, these patients are gonna tend not

0:55

to do as well as patients

0:56

who don't have frank pulmonary fibrosis on ct.
