Neuropathic Osteoarthropathy Pathology

<v ->There are a long list of pathologic and hence,

0:04

radiographic findings associated

0:06

with neuropathic osteoarthropathy.

0:09

Here you can see a list of some of them,

0:12

but I wanna point out that subchondral fractures

0:15

are an early finding in a variety

0:18

of neuropathic osteoarthropathy,

0:23

and that's why the term neuropathic arthropathy

0:26

is really not appropriate

0:28

for this particular disease process.

0:32

And another interesting finding that I've seen

0:34

mainly radiographically with neuropathic osteoarthropathy,

0:38

the bone fragments produce shards of bone

0:41

that migrate for long distances.

0:44

Here, I'm showing you, this is a patient with syphilis

0:48

with neuropathic changes about the knee,

0:51

and look at those migrating pieces of bone

0:54

that extend over a long distance superiorly,

0:58

in this case, along the femur.
