<v ->Thank you very much.

0:01

And again, welcome.

0:03

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening.

0:06

I really appreciate that we have so many people

0:08

who are attending each day.

0:12

And as I've done in the past,

0:14

lemme take a moment to introduce the Brazilian Scholar

0:17

who will join me today as Marcelo de Abreu.

0:22

When I look at Marcelo,

0:23

I realize how long that I have been

0:25

at this particular occupation,

0:28

because not only did I train Marcelo a bit,

0:32

but I actually trained his father, Armando.

0:36

So he's the second of the de Abreu's to join us.

0:39

Marcelo has an incredible track record.

0:43

He is a member of the International Skeletal Society.

0:47

He is currently in Davos, Switzerland,

0:50

as part of the international team

0:52

presenting a course there today.

0:54

And as you've seen throughout these first two days,

0:58

there are many of the slides they have shown,

1:00

have had his name at the bottom because you see,

1:03

during his time with us

1:04

he did an incredible amount of research.

1:07

So I appreciate very much

1:09

that Marcelo is joining us from Switzerland.

1:14

We're gonna cover an awful lot of material today,

1:17

and here's the list of some of the topics,

1:19

not all that we will be covering.

1:22

We're gonna deal with crystal induced arthropathy,

1:25

septic arthritis, osteoarthrosis, and others.

1:29

And then we're gonna discuss

1:31

a variety of tumors or tumor-like disorders

1:35

that involve joints or the tissues around joints.

1:39

So let's get started.

1:41

Let's initially discuss crystal induced arthropathy.

1:46

This slide gives you a list of some,

1:48

not all of the crystals

1:49

that can involve the musculoskeletal system,

1:53

and many of these can localize within joints.

1:56

Now, the checks that you see, the red checks,

2:00

are around three of the crystal diseases

2:03

that I will be discussing during this particular segment,

2:07

I will not discuss calcium oxylate

2:09

or some of the other less common crystals

2:13

that may involve the system.

2:14

We'll deal with monosodium urate,

2:17

calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate,

2:20

and basic calcium phosphate crystals and their effects.
