PSMA: Patient Preparation

HIDE
PrevNext

0:01

So what are the things we need to do prior to the scan?

0:05

We will ask every patient to boil their bladder

0:09

and no other specific things needed for this.

0:13

There's no specific diet, uh, supposed to FDG.

0:16

However, think about the population

0:19

where imaging, where imaging.

0:20

We're imaging patients that are generally, uh, older men

0:25

that may have a hyperplastic prostate

0:27

or an enlarged prostate,

0:29

and they might have difficulty voiding.

0:32

So this ultimately could be a limitation of the study.

0:37

One of the strategies that we can do if we see

0:41

that the bladder is too full

0:43

and the activity in the bladder may limit the visibility

0:46

of the pelvic organs, would be to

0:49

have the patient void again and repeat only the pelvis

0:54

or a second strategy Would, if you had a software

0:58

that could improve the

1:02

artifact from intense bladder uptake, apply that

1:07

as an post-processing tool.
