Cases: Abnormal Distribution of FDG (Hyperinsulinemia, Rhabdomyolysis, Myositis)

0:01

So we're gonna now review the axial view

0:04

of those three cases,

0:06

and this is the case of Hyperinsulinemia.

0:09

In this one, we can see that the uptake is intense,

0:12

but it's along the entire muscle.

0:15

It's not just a portion of the muscle,

0:17

the entire musculature has uptake.

0:22

And, uh, we can see also very nicely on the coronal as well.

0:27

So this is, uh, due to hyperinsulinemia.

0:31

This is the case of rhabdomyolysis.

0:33

After the patient had gone to the gym

0:35

and look at the distribution of the FDG in this case,

0:39

it's not diffused within the entire muscle,

0:41

it's just in areas of the muscle.

0:45

So it's patchy, it's intense,

0:47

but the key component is that it's patchy.

0:51

And this is the third case.

0:53

This patient had skin wound

0:56

and developed edema

0:59

and develop diffuse inflammation

1:03

and myositis of the underlying cough.

1:06

And here you can see that the degree of uptake is low.

1:10

It's asymmetric,

1:12

and it's not as diffuse as, uh, one would encounter with

1:18

Hyperinsulinemia or rhabdomyolysis.
