Understanding the SODDI Defense

HIDE

0:01

So, another, um, tactic that I think you need to be aware

0:05

of and you will have discussed with your lawyer

0:08

along the way is something that we call the Saudi defense.

0:12

Some other dude did it, and Dave mentioned this briefly,

0:16

and, and by the time that you get to trial, I think

0:18

that you'll typically have this well worked out,

0:22

but they're, they're looking at, you know,

0:25

who's finger pointing, who's finger pointing where.

0:28

And one of the things that works best for me

0:32

as a plaintiff's lawyer is if I can,

0:34

if there are multiple defendants in a suit and I can get one

0:39

or more of the defendants

0:41

to start pointing the fingers at each other

0:43

or others, then I kind of get to sit back

0:48

and watch this circular firing squad happen.

0:51

Um, and it makes it a lot easier for me

0:54

because then it's, okay, well, who's, who's gonna,

0:57

who's gonna pay up, if you will?

0:59

Uh, and it makes my job easier in terms of who's proving

1:03

what against whom, because that's what you are doing.

1:06

So this is something that your lawyer will talk about

1:09

and you should discuss it, you know, well

1:11

before you get to trial.

1:12

Another piece of this is, um, of course,

1:15

pointing the finger at someone who's

1:17

not involved in the lawsuit.

1:19

But again, your lawyer is going to talk with you about that,

1:23

and you need to listen to your lawyer, um,

1:26

as you move forward.

1:28

But be aware that this is an issue.
