0:00

Welcome to this course called Cardiac, MRI

0:03

and ischemic heart disease.

0:05

My name's Bradley Allen.

0:07

I'm an assistant professor at Northwestern University.

0:09

I'm the chief of cardiovascular

0:11

and thoracic imaging in the Department of Radiology, uh,

0:14

which serves Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.

0:19

So a couple notes on why I think this course

0:21

is important for you.

0:23

Uh, first, uh, obviously cardiovascular disease, uh,

0:26

remains a leading cause of mortality in the United States,

0:30

uh, and cardiac MR is increasingly utilized in the

0:33

evaluation of these patients with both ischemic

0:36

and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy.

0:38

The goals of, of this course, from my perspective, are

0:41

to improve radiologist's understanding

0:42

and comfort of CMR interpretation, uh, and then review

0:47

or introduce concepts related to cardiac MR tools

0:49

and techniques for ischemia and infarct evaluation.

0:53

Uh, I also hope to provide an outline

0:55

of some evidence supporting the role of cardiac Mr, uh,

0:57

in these patients.

0:59

And then, uh, obviously go through many case examples

1:02

that highlight, uh, where the techniques are useful.

1:05

Here's just an outline of how, what we'll cover,

1:08

uh, in the course today.

1:10

The first topic will be just an overview

1:12

of coronary artery disease, uh, pathophysiology.

1:15

Then we'll move on to some of the more basic topics

1:17

and ischemia evaluation are

1:19

with cardiac mr, including viability.

1:21

Im, uh, imaging and acute myocardial injury evaluation.

1:25

And then we'll move to some more advanced topics including

1:27

ischemia, evaluation with cardiac mr,

1:29

where we'll focus on both the background

1:31

and evidence associated with this technique.

1:32

And then, uh, dive in on the approach and interpretation.

1:36

Uh, stress perfusion, cardiac, Mr.
