0:00

So let me give you a few examples

0:02

of communication failure.

0:04

So again, this is the same thing.

0:06

Lumbar spine, MRI, herniated disc interpreted

0:10

as herniated disc four five.

0:12

Great, that looks, but in, in this, in the report,

0:16

there was a small space occupying lesion in patient's left

0:21

kidney, most likely appearance of cyst.

0:23

But ultrasound is suggested for further evaluation.

0:28

No direct communication was made to the referring physician.

0:31

And then 18 months later, the patient underwent a CT

0:34

that disclosed an RCC with numerous meds

0:38

in the mal practice lawsuit that came up.

0:41

The referring physician claim that never

0:43

to have received the written report from the radiologist.

0:46

And this does happen, this has actually happened to me, uh,

0:50

personally also where, where there was a systems failure

0:54

that the hospital had, that the

0:58

fax reports were not going out to the outside physicians.

1:01

And, uh, uh, there I was also involved in such a case.

1:05

Fortunately, it was dropped,

1:07

but this is, I have personally experienced this.

1:10

And again, in this case, the referring physician,

1:13

the radiologist and the hospital for the systems failure

1:17

that was in place, uh,

1:19

were implicated in the, in the lawsuit.

1:21

And, and, and so, so this is,

1:24

this is something to learn from.

1:25

But because there have been multiple, multiple,

1:28

multiple examples such as this.
