Breast Clustered Microcyst

0:01

Okay, and this is, uh, if you have another

0:03

baseline screening mammogram and another

0:05

oval circumscribed mass, and this is in

0:08

the central right breast.

0:12

You can see here,

0:16

and again, we have the patient come back

0:18

for those spot compression images and

0:20

we see that that finding persists here.

0:23

This is on the CC view.

0:26

So then we do a targeted ultrasound exam.

0:30

And in this case, on the ultrasound,

0:32

this is what we're seeing.

0:34

This is a great example of clustered microcysts,

0:36

which is the second indication for BI-RADS 3 on

0:42

ultrasound that BI-RADS specifically describes.

0:48

It's important to differentiate clustered

0:50

microcysts, like we're seeing here,

0:52

to simple cysts that are next to each other.

0:54

But here, we're seeing very small cystic

0:59

spaces with septations throughout it.

1:02

And this, on a baseline mammogram,

1:05

would be an appropriate BI-RADS 3.

1:06

We'd want to have the patient come back in six

1:08

months to make sure that this is not changing.
