DEA Mate Act Physician Training

DEA Requirements Overview

  • Total Hours Required: Beginning June, 27, 2023, renewing DEA-registered practitioners must complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders
  • License Renewal Cycle: 3 years. With initial registration, applicants are assigned to one of twelve groups, which correspond to the months of the year. The expiration date within any group is the last day of the month designated for that group. The expiration month is based upon the first letter of applicant's last name. The first cycle of registration is not less than 28 months but not more than 39 months from the date first registered. After the initial registration period, the registration will expire 36 months (3 years) from the initial expiration date.
