Program Description

Racial disparities in healthcare remain one of the most persistent challenges facing clinicians today, shaping how patients from Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color experience diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. This course equips healthcare providers with a clear understanding of how structural racism, implicit bias, and social determinants of health drive inequities in everyday practice, from maternal mortality and pain management to cardiovascular care and preventive screening. Through evidence-based frameworks and real-world case studies, learners will examine how bias operates in patient encounters and healthcare algorithms, and gain culturally responsive strategies to build trust with diverse patients. The course also covers system-level approaches to advancing health equity, including data infrastructure, insurance policy, and community integration. Providers will leave better prepared to recognize disparities, deliver more equitable care, and drive lasting change.
