Gynecomastia - Diffuse

HIDE
PrevNext

0:01

Okay, uh, in this case we have a, uh, 50-year-old male who

0:06

is presenting with palpable findings in both breasts.

0:11

Um, in this case, uh, at our institution, uh,

0:15

for male breast imaging, we start with standard

0:21

full-field digital mammography or 2D exams.

0:25

In this case right away, uh, we can see that there's

0:28

a lot of glandular tissue in both breasts, um, which would

0:33

fall under the, uh, diffuse pattern of gynecomastia.

0:36

As you remember, there are three

0:39

patterns: nodular, dendritic, and diffuse.

0:42

And this would be considered the diffuse pattern,

0:44

which looks almost like a female, uh, breast tissue.

0:49

In this case, um, he did go on to have some

0:53

tomosynthesis, um, looking, um, just a little

0:56

bit on the left-hand side as the interpreting,

0:58

uh, radiologist wanted to get a little more

1:01

information there, and as we scroll through,

1:04

we see that pattern looks very much like female

1:07

breast tissue with a normal scattered glandular

1:11

sort of appearance.

1:13

Same thing is true on this left CC spot view,

1:16

um, showing, um, very typical, uh, glandular

1:20

type breast tissue, um, with no focal findings.

1:23

So this patient can be reassured.

1:25

They have benign, diffuse bilateral gynecomastia.
