Staging of Primary Bone Cancers

HIDE

0:00

So let's look at staging of primary bone cancers.

0:03

There are multiple staging criteria. But

0:06

when we think about one of the stage criteria,

0:09

that's preferably use by the muscular

0:12

tumor Society. It's the Anakin system and what

0:15

it does is it takes into account three specific factors grade.

0:19

sight

0:21

And metastasis, so in the setting of histologic grade, we

0:24

have stage 1A and one

0:27

being that represent low grade tumors

0:30

when we're thinking about high grade tumors. This

0:33

is the 2A and to be lesions those that

0:36

are metastasize regionally or

0:39

distantly these would be the stage three lesions

0:42

when we're talking about sight confined within

0:45

the cortex or outside of the cortex is

0:48

an important question. The intric compartmental ones

0:51

within the cortex would be one eight and

0:54

two a stages extra compartmental

0:57

would be one b or to be and of

1:00

course if it metastasize it can be T1 or T2

1:03

now when it comes to the presence of metastasis,

1:06

That is seen industrates three lesions only

1:09

in the Anakin system.

1:12

So if note this is not the only system but one

1:15

that I use to sort of highlight the importance of

1:18

grade sight and Missus when evaluating and

1:21

staging but of course there are other systems out there

1:24

and of course many of us know about the American joint committee on

1:27

cancer staging system, which is also one that you

1:30

may want to be familiar with.
